Summary: This article looks at how to get a Digg bump without getting banned… giving your a traffic and your SEO boost.
Digg is a social media website. Digg is designed to enable people to discover and share content from anywhere on the Internet. You can submit links and stories to the site. Digg also enables you to gain/submit comments and votes for content that has been submitted.
A digg bump is slang for when you gain lots of ‘Diggs’ from Digg vistors and you ‘bump up’ the Digg lists.
There is a way to gain a Digg bump without getting banned for manipulating the Digg figures. The trick is emailing friends/colleagues and asking for a helping hand to get your content showing on Digg, but you’ve got to watch how you do that. Follow the steps below:
- It perhaps goes without saying but make sure your article is really good and worthy of a Digg!
- Don’t send them the direct link to your Digg story.
- Instead send them the link to the story on your website, and embed a Digg link at the top of the story. (Digg Icon/button etc)
- Tell your friends/colleagues/visitors to click on the Digg link and enter the Digg site that way.
- As with any ‘bumping up’ the figures trick, watch out for creating patterns, as you can be sure the website (Digg) will spot the pattern before you do and penalise you….
- …but don’t be put off by this, you only really need a bump of 15 – 20 people before your post starts standing out and gaining other peoples’ Diggs in its own right from the established Digg crowd.
Along with Digg there is also Stumbleupon and many other social networking and bookmark sites that do the same as Digg in that they provide platforms to get your content and links out there, although they all work slightly differently. Check out our social media list for more ideas.
