WordPress vs HTML/CSS websites – which is better for SEO?

wordpressWelcome to Angel SEO…The current argument raging across the SEO world is Wordpress built website v pure HMTL/CSS built website, both hosted on their own domain, so effectively no link back to Wordpress itself. The MD of Angel SEO Dave Cain, recently carried out some tests and found some interesting findings. Read Dave’s full article here.

From the tests carried out by Angel SEO, results show that if you want your website to rank well in Google and stay ranked well, you need to have a purpose built site, built from scratch and running on its own domain name.

Leading industry SEO expert Rand Fishkin backed up Angel SEO’s finding by making the point that to enable a Wordpress managed site to be as seo friendly and liked by search engines as a traditional build “strip it down and rebuild it from the ground up, do lots of great design things”

The article does make some valid points for Wordpress, stating that tests showed Wordpress is good for sites that update content regularly, i.e. every few days. This would seem normal for Wordpress with it traditionally been a blogging platform.

So the key is invest now and have a successful website for a long time to come.
